Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Cost Planner to join our dynamic team. As a Cost Planner, you will play a pivotal role in the financial planning and management of our large-scale industrial projects. You will be responsible for ensuring our projects are completed on time and within budget, contributing to the continued success and growth.

Key Responsibilities:
 
  • Perform drawing and specification analysis, material takeoff and pricing as well as labor estimation of bridge, lock and dam, marine and other heavy/civil projects with values from $10K to $20M
  • Provide clear, detailed quality take-offs for material, labor, and equipment using company estimating standards.
  • Develop and maintain detailed cost estimates for heavy industrial projects, including labor, materials, and equipment.
  • Prepare and present cost reports and forecasts to project managers and senior leadership.
  • Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to gather necessary data for accurate cost planning.
  • Analyze project plans, specifications, and contracts to ensure comprehensive cost control.
  • Monitor project budgets, identify potential cost overruns, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support project bidding and negotiation processes by providing detailed cost analysis.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop contingency plans to mitigate financial risks.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and cost management technologies
Qualifications:
 
  • Proficient with computer tools, online reporting software and computer programs (Microsoft Office Suite), Epicor Manufacturing ERP software or equivalent, and SharePoint.
  •  Communicate clearly to deliver vital information to upper-level management.
  •  Attention to detail to ensure specifications are being met and quality of purchases is up to standard.
  •  Knowledge of construction practices and labor costs, along with a good knowledge of the uses and costs of materials.
  •  Experience reading, understanding, interpreting complex engineering drawings and prints.
Education requirements or Equivalent:
  • Minimum high school education or equivalent machine shop or fabrication experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in structural steel, fabrication, machining take-offs for civil or government construction projects.
  • Experience with heavy mechanical or civil fabrication or construction.
  • Experience with cost estimating software such as Blue Beam Costimator, Fabtrol, etc.
