Job Summary: The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of products sourced from external suppliers. The SQE will be responsible for evaluating, qualifying, and monitoring suppliers, as well as driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance supplier performance and product quality. This role will require strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.

Responsibilities:
1. Evaluate potential suppliers based on quality, technical capabilities, manufacturing processes, and adherence to regulatory requirements.
2. Conduct supplier audits and assessments to evaluate quality systems, processes, and capabilities.
3. Develop and maintain supplier quality agreements and performance metrics to ensure alignment with organizational quality standards and objectives.
4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and communicate quality requirements, specifications, and expectations to suppliers.
5. Lead supplier qualification activities, including process validation, first article inspection, and production part approval process (PPAP).
6. Monitor and analyze supplier performance data to identify trends, quality issues, and improvement opportunities.
7. Investigate and resolve supplier quality issues using root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) methodologies.
8. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance supplier quality, reduce defects, and improve overall supply chain performance.
9. Provide technical support and guidance to suppliers to address quality-related challenges and ensure compliance with product specifications and standards.
10. Collaborate with purchasing and supply chain teams to resolve supplier-related supply chain disruptions and ensure continuity of supply.
11. Participate in cross-functional teams and projects to support new product development, cost reduction efforts, and other strategic initiatives.
12. Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to supplier quality management.

Qualifications:
 • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field; advanced degree preferred.

• Experience in supplier quality engineering or supplier management within a manufacturing or regulated industry (e.g., automotive, aerospace, medical devices).
• Proven ability to conduct supplier audits, assessments, and qualifications.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and drive data-driven decisions.
• Strong problem-solving skills with experience in root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA).
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Proficiency in quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949) and regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, FAA, ISO).
• Proficient in using quality tools and software applications (e.g., Minitab, statistical analysis tools, ERP systems).

• Experience with seating a plus.
• Experience with metals a plus.
• Experience with leather/cloth a plus.
